Cancer is a group of diseases that involve abnormal cell growth.
Cancer can start in almost any organ or tissue of the body.
Cancer cells can divide uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body.
This can result in tumors, damage to the immune system, and other impairment that can be fatal.

Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in the world. According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 2 men and people assigned male at birth (AMAB) and 1 in 3 women and people assigned female at birth (AFAB) will develop cancer.

Cancer can affect various parts of the body, such as the breasts, lungs, prostate, and skin.

A course of chemotherapy usually takes between 3 to 6 months, although it can be more or less than that. The treatment will include one or more chemotherapy drugs. You may have the chemotherapy into a vein (intravenous drugs), or as tablets or capsules.

Some things you can do to stay healthy during cancer treatment include:

Staying away from tobacco
Protecting your skin from overexposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun and avoiding tanning beds
